Research On Perfectionism Tendency Of University Students And Its Relationship With Psychology Well-being

Perfectionism tendency and Psychology well-being(PWB) are common concepts for researching in other countries, but there is a lack of Perfectionism tendency questionnaire suitable for our Chinese cultural background and the researches on PWB are fewer in China, even a integrated PWB questionnaire has not been formed.By the approaches of collection and analysis of literature, interview, open questionnaire, etc. in this research, we gathered perfectionism tendency items and developed preexprimental and formal questionnaire, revised Ryff Psychology well-being Questionnaire strictly in term of scientific methods, which were investigated in Jiangsu University and Soochow University. And then statistical methods like exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, variance analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis were applied to the data analysis in order to discuss the relationship between Perfectionism tendency and PWB as well as their interior structures. Main conclusions of the research are as following:(1) The Perfectionism tendency structure of Chinese University students is composed of relatively independent five-dimension stucture: High standard tendency, Self-concerning tendency, Advocate morality tendency, Hard relaxing tendency and Failing scared tendency.(2) The revised edition of"Ryff PWB questionnaire"among Chinese University students includes five relatively independent dimensions: Quality relations with others, Having purpose in life, Personal growth, Autonomy and Self-acceptance.(3) The"Perfectionism tendency questionnaire for University students"and"Ryff PWB questionnaire"(revised edition) have favorable split-half reliability, homogeneity reliability, content validity and construct validity, which has accorded with the demands of psychometrics. (4) Among the demographic variables like gender, age, grade, subject, family background and"only one child in family or not", except age and"only one child in family or not", all the others have a certain effect on Perfectionism tendency or five dimension of Perfectionism tendency. With the exception of age and family background , all the others have a significant effect on PWB or its five dimension to some different extent.(5) The Perfectionism tendency of University students is significantly positive correlated with PWB. The Hard relaxing tendency,Self-concerning tendency and High standard tendency of Perfectionism tendency can predict PWB, while the Hard relaxing tendency is the most effective predicting factor of PWB.
