Since Ming and Qing dynasties, participating temple fairs has became a popular activity in people's daily life in Jiangnan region and usually women played a dominant role in most of local temple fairs.Because those women came from all walks of life,different parts of the region and all of the ages, so it's naturally that they usualy cherished different hopes and behaved differently in temple fairs.Women also ofen expressed their religious sincere, made deals in temple makerts or just went sight-seeing in temple fairs.In traditional China,people come from polite society are dislike to see the occasions that so many women frequently taking part in temple fairs without misgivings,they criticized and disdained women because they think that these women have violated the strict Confucious social rules seriously.But on the other side, common people are lenient in dealing with such activities.Since ealy in last century,some scholars have done lots of thoroughgoing studies about the temple fairs in Jiangnan region ,but there are not so many studies have been done about the relation between temple fairs and women's daily life .Apply to observe and study the local custom of temple fairs with historical means,my thesis try to expose local women's diversified and colourful life at that time.
