Discussion Of The Dialectic Relations Between Art And Desidn

The very core of the article was focused on the materialistic dialectic of Marxism, and typical works of Art and Design of every period were studied and analyzed in historical order, the dialectic relations between Art and Design were discussed. In this article it can be found that, Design came into being earlier than Art and they had to serve the demand to exist for the low level of the productivity in primitive society. In slavery society, the status of Design was that of principal, and the Art was subordinate of it. However during the period of feudalistic society, Design became to degenerate gradually and the Art was separated and became principal for the reason of handicraft industry. With the development of mechanization of industry, the status of Design was upgraded to the principal part again, and modernism of Art and Design appeared. Now in the times of post modernism, Art and Design are becoming to unite and syncretize from separation. We can see that Art and Design are different and opposite to each other sometimes, but then they are uniform and syncretic with each other for time to time. The relation of Art and Design is dialectic.
