The Frankfurt school of thought, an important part of "West Marxism", affects profoundly. But as an American of German origin, Herbert Marcuse, a philosopher, esthetician, political thinker, is the most renowned representative of the Frankfurt school. His radical thought, especially his theory of "the modern Utopia revolution", which is on the pivot of critique on disassimilation reality, caused him to become a spiritual leader of the new leftish movement in 1968. This article mainly begins with the simple introduction of the Frankfurt school of thought and the historical analysis of the origin of Marcuse's thoughts. It explains the content of Marcuse's "the modern Utopia revolution theory", inspects whether it is of Maxism, and promulgates its positive sense and limitation. This article consists of four major parts: First, introduction of the Frankfurt school of thought and Marcuse: the Frankfurt school of thought is an important part of "West Marxism", and Marcuse is the most renowned representative of the Frankfurt school. Second, inspection of the origin of Marcuse's "modern Utopia revolution theory". He embarks from humanitarianism, takes the mixture of Floyd's psycho-analysis and Marx's early time humanism as its basis, criticizes the constraining of modern capitalism society to human nature, and put forwards his "modern Utopia revolution" theory on the basis of "the revision" of the classics Marxism revolutionary theory. Third, introduction of the main idea of Marcuse's "Modern Utopia Revolution Theory". Marcuse promulgates "the overall disassimilation" phenomenon in contemporary Western society and inspects the constraining of human's "desire of love". Then he advances the brand-new revolutionary theory. The motivation of revolution is the constrained love. "The edge people" and the oppressors in the third world are the main part of revolutionists. The revolutionary method it employed is "all rejection". Fourth, rational evaluation of Marcuse's "Modern Utopia Revolution Theory". It can be affirmed that Marcuse's unique understanding of the Marxism revolution has provided extremely beneficial enlightenment and material of thoughts for us. On the other hand, it admits that Marcuse has deviated the track of Marxism revolution theory in many aspects. In the present age, during the process of persistence and development of Marxism, we have the necessity to analyze it objectively and draw experiences and lessons from it. Fifth, conclusion.
