With"the international integration"of the society, each country has itsown design culture characteristic and the design in our country is under thecollision of the East and West culture, which urges us to see the outstandingdesign method and diverse artistic forms by combining the western cultureand artistic design .Meanwhile we are faced with great pressure, that is, howto develops our peculiar national culture on the international roag .Therefore,to realize the better union of the traditional culture and the modern design isa practical problem asking for solution. In the current design academic fieldhas some designers, Who are studying the union of traditional Chineseculture and modern design, the representatives are Chen Han Ming, Jin DaiQiang, Chen You Jian and so on. They have provided the rare and excellentexamoles foe us .Among these researchers, Jin Dai Qiang has an uniqueinterpretation on the application of the traditional Chinese graph symbols andits union with the modern design. Its prominent characteristics are to combinethe traditional and the modern sense ,and to melt the native culture andthoughts into the modern design by placing the traditional ideas on theleadership to reveal the national personality .Thus , our peculiar designculture characteristics are formed. The graph symbols in the works originatefrom the traditional element, such as propitious grain type, folk customcommon social and practices, waterink calligraphy and so on. At last, theformation of Jin Dai Qiang's design characteristics is not cccasional ,whichrelates to the environment and his effort, First,he grew up in china and wasinfluenced greatly by traditional Chinese culture.Second, he lives in thespecial region, hong kong ,and thus is influenced by both Chinese and westerninformation. This paper discusses the national modeling characteristics, the modernmodelling characteristics and their mutual integration in Jin Dai Qiang'sdesigns works form the angle of modelling characteristics of graph symbols.Form the analysis of the national characteristic, the modernmodelling characteristic and the modern ones of graph symbols in Jin DaiQiang' works, we conclude that modelling characteris of graph symbols aremainly the perfect union of national culture and modern design , andmutual international with the the modern modeling designs based on theculture foundation of traditional Chinese philosophy and thoughts. They meetthe requirements of "the international integration" to link the east and west, and finally view the tradional Chinese modes of thought as the leader. Thepaper is divided into three parts, first, it discusses the national characteristicsof graph symbols in Jin Dai Qiang's works (namely the application of thetraditional elements of propitious grain type, folk custom and practices, waterink calligraphy in works).
