| Drawing is the art of presenting images, which transmits the subject's esthetic emotions through the creation of esthetic images with codes. Images are concretized emotional codes. In different cultural contexts, images can present different esthetic features. The western artists, scientists as well, follow the rules of rational analysis to present the opposition between human and the world, to present a kind of harmony in forms. The classical drawing forms a kind of language system and drawing images to reproduce the objective world. The modernist drawing is the denial of Western tradition, which directly presents the understandings and experiences of real life, and whose images appear a multiplex phenomenon characterized by an abstract plane.The Chinese drawing, with its glorious history, has the quality of presenting abstractive things from the angle of language style. It is a set of procedural language codes. The Chinese traditional drawing pursues the psychological harmony of the subject and the object, the scene and the emotions. It creates images which fall into the domain between the embodiment and the abstract by using the enjoyable technique. The formation and the development of Chinese image oil painting has inherited the Chinese traditional culture essence and assimilated the rich nutrition of modern arts. The Chinese image oil painting displays the unique artistic esthetic value. This thesis attempts to elaborates the esthetic values of Chinese image oil painting, and predict the prospects of Chinese image oil painting through the discrimination of two concepts—image and drawing image, the comparison between Chinese and Western drawing images in traditional linguistic context, as well as the analysis of the relations between modernist drawing image and the Chinese imagist oil painting. |
