The Qitai Yangge is the typical representative folk drama in central Shanxi. This research takes the folklore knowledge and the folk literature theory as a foundation; a village of central Shanxi as an instance, using the method which unifies using the folklore field-work and the literature analysis, systematically studies the relations between the Qitai Yangge and the village populace's lives. From the history, performance and the performance customs of Qitai Yangge the study reflects the local populace's social behavior, thoughts and their value orientation.The Introduction set limits to the definitions of the noun terminology which involves in this research, and makes the summary, proposes the research techniques and its significance.The first chapter has made the detailed elaboration to the Qitai Yangge and its history, the development condition and the performance customs. The second chapter carries on the analysis of the Qitai Yangge-centered rural customs and the artistic ingredient. The third chapter elaborated Qitai Yangge performance. The fifth chapter has makes the description of the puzzledom of Qitai Yangge's development in the present, and proposed the practical and feasible strategies.
