Jean Racine, the pioneer writer of French classic drama, always has a reputation of tragedy writing. In his ethics-rich tragic works, his ethical awareness has long been regarded as equivalent to moral preaching. But people have ignored that his ethical awareness did take part in the development of the text esthetic value construction. Therefore, the thesis, by using ethics criticism on the basis of text interpretation, tries to explore Andromaque in a real language background of history to deeply explain its ethical awareness and research into the origin of Racine's idea based on the exploration. The thesis is made up of 3 parts: Introduction, Text, Conclusion. The Introduction Part includes three sections: Question Raising on the past researches, Summary of the past researches and the Insights. In Question Raising, it mainly explains the necessity of ethics criticism on Racine's tragic works. In Summary of the past researches, it systematically introduces the past researches into Racine's works, pointing out their unique methodology, achievements and remaining defects. The Insights of the thesis lie in systematic adoption of literature ethics criticism. The theme researches into the single case of Andromaque, trying to describe the ethical awareness of Andromaque clearly and wholly, in order to discover its components and origin. The Text Part is divided into 3 chapters. Chapter 1, "the 3 ethics dimension of Andromaque". In this chapter, it explains the 3 layers ("individual desire", "social rules" and "God's decree" ) of the ethical awareness construction, pointing out that the ethics rules in it was not a fixed pattern, but a changing system with conflicts. Individual desire is the basic point of ethical awareness; social rules are the adjustment of the desire; God's decree is the final target of ethics requirement. Chapter 2 , "Ethics conflicts in Andromaque. In this chapter, it analyzes the two conflict patterns in the drama: "madness" and "destruction". The former pattern made the ethics rules vaporized and hung apart; the latter made people reconsider the legality of the ethical norms. Chapter 3, "Analysis of Racine's ethical origin". In this chapter, it analyzes the historical construction of Racine's ethical awareness form 3 aspects: "Ancient Greek Tragedy's Edifying", "Rationalistic Influence" and "Apocalypse of Jansenism Creed", concluding thatâ‘ Racine's learning experience and preference to ancient Greek tragedies were adopted into his works, as the rich sources of ethics.â‘¡The relationship of "spirit" and "body" in rationalism has to be discussed, which made Racine abnegate his affection as a composing rule.â‘¢Racine's works are full of fatalistic ideas and put himself in an ethical conflict, due to Jansenism's creed of fatalism and the departing and unity between Racine and this denomination. In the Conclusion Part, on the basis of the entire text, it states that ethical conflicts are natural with the development of man, and they are the main source of the attractiveness of tragedies.
