Ramble On The Road Of Thoughts For The Works Of Art

The word "question" accompanies Heidegger's whole life. In The Origins of works of Art, Heidegger questioned art, the world, the mother land and truth, but he still does not forget questioning existence. In this paper, Heidegger's thoughts for art and truth are centralized to be represented. More intriguingly, art and truth, two irrelevant categories in ordinary people minds, are integrated into one area by Heidegger. By doing so, Heidegger neither adds a new model into many esthetical sketches nor tries to please the public with claptrap. What Heidegger's doing is to return to "substance itself and the discussion of existence in order to awake people to pick up the existence we have forgotten.In this paper, the chapter I mainly combs out the relationship artists and the works of art. At the beginning of The Origins of works of Art, Heidegger refers to an interesting cycle, art-works of art-artists, these three seem to constitute a closed circle. It is like an ancient and hard-dealing question that the chicken comes out firstly or the egg, which seriously set an obstacle for us to explore the origins of art. By questioning the cycle, Heidegger is not going to break it, but hopes that such question could further deepens in it. Chapter II questions the substance by following Heidegger's ideas. In Heidegger's view, the traditional concept of substance is not possible to catch works' factors, and the establishment of the world and the procreation of the mother earth are two basic characteristics of artistic works. Because of this, Heidegger places special attention on analyzing the world and the mother earth, and argues that the disputes about the world and the mother earth pave the way for the achievements made in the arts works. Chapter III mainly discusses the relationship between artistic works and truth. Heidegger's combination of artistic works and truth inevitably does dumfound lots of people. But what is the difference between Heidegger's truth and traditional truth? What is the relationship between Heidegger's truth and art, and how the truth is being deposited in the works? All of these are the focus of discussion in this chapter.This paper regards Heidegger' essay, The Origins of works of Art, as a text of continuously questioning existence, For his exploration on art, truth, the world, the mother earth and other topics is nothing but to listen to existence's saying, Response to existence's calls and embraced by existence are not only the soul running through former and later Heidegger's thoughts, but also what he always pursue in his whole career. Heidegger's probe into the origins of art breaks the traditional metaphysics of aesthetic theory's framework and return to a more primitive origin, which is not only his contribution to philosophy, but also a great contribution to the theory of art.
