Heidegger's Thinking About The Essence Of Art And Its Significance

This thesis begins from the background and origin of Heidegger's thinking, takes "the origin of works of art" as a model to study Heidegger's important philosophy of art, analyzes in depth Heidegger's artistic concepts by comparing the Western traditional artistic concepts, studies and sums up the great significance played by its philosophy of art.This thesis includes four parts:The first part briefly introduces framework of Heidegger's art in general, and the content and thought of the carrier of Heidegger's thinking," the origin of works of art".The second part mainly introduces and comprehensively analyzes the historical background and academic sources of Heidegger's philosophy. When I comes to origins in the academic context, Husserl's phenomenology had a profound impact on Heidegger's thinking. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the tendency of translating Chinese philosophy of Laozi and Zhuangzi also had a certain influence on Heidegger's thinking. Heidegger concentrated on the truth, while Lao Zi and Zhuangzi took the Tao as the origin of the arts. Both of them emphasized the integration of truth and beauty. The idea of ancient Chinese philosophy of Laozi and Zhuangzi played a very important role in the shift of Heidegger's thinking.The third part introduces the Western views on the essence of art and the content related to traditional art. In this section, it explains the essence of the traditional views on the essence of art, and the traditional aesthetics. The main idea of the traditional aesthetics of art is represented by Plato and Aristotle's "imitation", which occupied the dominant position in the West for a long time, but it emphasizes too much on the subjective side of the things, and floods the true art. "Creation" is shifted from "imitation" by Kant, which stressed that the main factor in constituting arts is the imagination to create freely. This theory also does not reveal the nature of art, because it ignores the existence of the arts - the same with all other existence - should be a historical existence in the world. That is, the truth of existence. The review of Hegel's "end of art" is more objective. In this section, it refutes "end of art" by contrast, quotation, discussion, etc. to prove that the arts can and must existent eternally as the timeless value.The fourth part is an important part of this article, which focuses on commenting Heidegger's thinking about the essence of works of art. Heidegger chooses the method of researching phenomenon to ask to get the origin of art from the existential standing point. This is a new way. When it comes to concept of the existence of works of art, the essence of the thinking that the existence is the base of discussing questions is the implementation process of the dispute between the world and the earth. During this process, the dispute leads to the truth. In works of art, truth plays a pivotal role. On one hand, truth is placed in the works. On the other hand, the works preserves the truth. In other words, arts are both the birthplace and preservation. This is Heidegger's important revealing to the essence of art. In studying the essence of art, Heidegger formed its own unique view on art , especially his " appearing-withdrawing "thinking, which unified the presence of the limited and the absence of the unlimited, and provide us an important way to understand and appreciate the arts.Furthermore, we studied the contribution and enlightenment of Heidegger's thinking: his innovation of aesthetic theory, his consideration to the metaphysical arts, his explicitness of boundaries of artistic creation; his establishment of a measure of value of art by unifying the art production and the truth. He expanded the four-dimensional boundaries of space and research of the modern aesthetic and artistic philosophy, more importantly, is his understanding and interpretation of art. Art has always been the object of appreciation by the people, and the object of serving human. Through Heidegger's concept of art, when we appreciate the arts, we will think by placing art on independent location, which is of great significance when we appreciate the arts in China. I hope that this article can play a role in further studying the development of Chinese art and innovation.
