There was a splendid era of bronze age in ancient China. There are not only many different types of bronze wares, but also unique styles. The lines are exquisite and sometimes there are important inscriptions. They are important documents for the study of history of ancient China with important historic, scientific, and artistic value. The art of bronze evolved with time, reflecting the change of the society and the thoughts of people. There have been intensive studies of bronze art, however, most of them are from the views of the natural science and social science. Here we want to present our study from the view of art design. Our example is the bronze bird askos from the tomb of Zhaojianzi. It is the typical bronze ware during the late of Spring and Autumn period. We study the design art of this master piece, from decoration, characters, style, shape to the underlying design language. We wish the beauty of traditional bronze art will give us resources in modern art design. Our bases are art of design, archeology, history, etc. The study includes many aspects of the bronze bird askos, and many useful results are achieved via this unique view.
