Pioneer fictions, coming out in mid-1980s as an all-skill show and characterized by show-off of personality and abandoning of tradition, found it really difficult to stand in 1990s and was finally replaced by "younger generation" literature, which also faded away after a busy short-time show. However, Dongxi, first highly honored by pioneer school and later warmly welcomed by "younger generation" school, is still popular and than ever. The question "Who is Dongxi?" is no longer a question. He has become the best, the one both readers and critics would like to focus on nowadays. This is not only because the name "Dongxi (things)" is monstrous and his novels are filled with "absurd", "humorous" and "human organs", but because they are unique reveals and expressions of two main cultural themes—surviving and disaster—through "direct realism", and are showing stories and morals harmonistically through "straight to the nature", and most important, because Dongxi adopts fresh, unique and successful narrating skills and strategy in his writing. Starting from analysis and research of his novels and in the help of relevant theories of narratology, the article explores the constant breaking and creating history which Dongxi's novels experienced from "pioneer" to "younger generation", and recognizes his active writing and his strange but wise narrative. This article believes that all the humorous but absurd style, beyond-tradition but modern creating dimension, gossip-like language, leisure structure and unconcentrated vision make Dongxi's novels unique.
