The Kinship Terms In Chinese And Its Extensive Use: Types, Causes And Functions

Kinship term is one of the basic components of a language lexicon. China is a large country for using of appellations, so kinship terms in Chinese have especially been developed. Due to various factors, the characteristics of kinship terms in Chinese are exquisite differentiate, varieties complex and vast contain. In social intercourse, people frequently use kinship terms to call non-relative people, and usually use kinship terms by some rhetoric methods. Kinship term is one kind of very important term for social intercourse, it is closely related to the linguistic environment, therefore, in social communicating activities, people should not be careless about it. The research of Chinese terms for kinship is helpful to us in understanding it's systematic and using of Chinese terms for kinship better.On the basis of previous researches, the thesis will discuss and research the types and causes of kinship terms in Chinese from the angle of generalized rhetoric, contacting with social life and combining some related knowledge, such as sociology, culture studies, pragmatics, psychology, etc. In the realistic social intercourse, kinship term has its own functions: education, cohesion, and adaptability. The thesis choices "San Yan" "Er Pai" for the investigation sample. Through the statistics and the analysis of kinship terms in the texts, we can understand the uses of kinship terms in the literature texts of that time.
