| Wang Runzi, a famous writer and one of the leaders of literatus in Shandong in 1980s', was born and grown in countryside. His works mainly reflects ups and downs in society and the spiritual transmutation in countryside and the labouring class represented by Chinese peasants. In his works, Wang Runzi gradually breaks away the restriction of mainstream of his time. 'When other people attach importance to being momentous and pungent ', Wang bases himself upon folks and starts with trifles. His works truly and honestly mirror folk lives especially the hardship and suffering among peasants in growing prospect of that time. Furthermore, Wang pays more attention to finding the eternal meanings of folk spirit accumulated in laboring people's hearts through national and folk culture in benefit-only times. His passion to peasants and truth-pursuing writing principle make his rational thinking to morals of that period and research to human culture have typical folk particularity and common meaning, which clearly observes the restrictions of his time and is still worthy of being used for reference and thinking at present.This thesis is divided into three parts to discuss.1. Folk writing attitude and art pursuing. Adhering to his principles of respecting peasant, learning from peasant and describing peasant, Wang regards himself as a member from countryside to observe and record country lives and history changes, and this shows unique peasant-standard folk viewpoints. He adds some factors, such as dialect, folk-custom and folktale narration into his writing and he follows simple styles, attach importance to the diligence and kindness of his characters, and poetry in artistic conception-rendering. So his writing faithfully reveals the living essence and forms his particular folk writing attitude and aesthetic beauty.2. His concerning on the people's livelihood and history sense. In the beginning period of reform and opening, Wang had broken away from the mainstream culture structure which was full of praise and tribute. With true and careful mind, he deeply concerned hardship and suffering at that time by describing the changes of peasants' social status, their producing and living styles and emotional world. His thinking over the gap between rural and urban areas, rural workers and the privileged, and the disparity between the rich and the poor, the pursuit of self-interest and degenerated morale, shows that his history sense surpasses his compeers.3. Folk spirit and humanism thinking. With his thinking to practical questions, Wang increasingly focuses on human through pondering from the surface of life to the inner part of social changes, and from transform of the world to transmutation of people's heart. He adheres to the principle of literature is humanity which is based on folk spirit to his writing. And he expresses humanism thinking by describing the meaning of life, various life styles, anxiety and the praise of morality, the roots of suffering and ultimate pursuing. His works focus on representing humanism such as cherishing life, praising morality and pursuing goodliness which are deeply rooted in folk blood and have universal and eternal values. |
