A Comparative Study On Fieldwork Methods Of Liang Sicheng And Wang Ziyun

The issue of study on Art Historiography is one of inevitable and important problems in the area of Art History nowadays. The studies on Historiography are to reveal the development of Art History, characteristic and developmental trend, which are in a course of historical development.In this paper, Liang Sicheng and Wang Ziyun are mainly included as subjects, who are the two archaeologists of Archaeology area in the first half of the 20th century, whose fieldwork methods are also focused on comprehensively in the article. This paper begins with summarizing their respective fieldwork methods. A landmark study by the results of their respective fieldworks will be divided into two stages in this article. Meanwhile, the author clears the achievement of their respective works, indicates its status of fieldwork achievement, and reflects the existing shortcomings in the course continually. Secondly, on the basis of study, the paper further analogies the similarities and differences in their fieldwork methods, reveals the unique analysis perspective and innovation viewpoint in the step of their respective fieldwork methods.As a study of Historiography, this paper clarifies the overall threads of their fieldwork methods with which are mainly discussed, combining a mass of literature and interview material, explorers the similarities and differences in research methods by deeply studied, and then represents their respective unique feature.
