Working memory not only is closely to general fluid intelligence but also is intimately associated with long-term memory. The advancing of long-term working memory and working memory multi-component model is an exploratory study of relationships between them, and the conclusions are accepted popularly at present. In this thesis, started with different materials and different types of long-term memory and working memory, this study initially discussed relationships between long-term memory and working memory, and how they influence the general fluid intelligence and affect each other. Finally the theory will be sought to explain the relationships. In this research, 600 freshmen in grade 2007 were chosen from ten schools in Northwest University as subjects. The subjects took part in verbal long-term memory, digit long-term memory, autobiographical memory, digit working memory and spatial working memory these five experiments and raven's standard progressive matrices. Then eight indexes have gotten, including verbal memory quantity, episodic memory, semantic memory, digit memory quantity, autobiographical memory, digit working memory span, visuospatial working memory span and fluid intelligence. To these indexes, using t test on subjects, sex and source of students, we found that source of students has a strongest effect on the working memory and the general fluid intelligence, the source of subjects from country are lower than city, however, there is no significant different on long-term memory. Internal correlation analysis of three types long-term memory claims that there is significant correlation between episodic memory and semantic memory, between semantic memory and autobiographical memory, but episodic memory is not significantly correlated to autobiographical memory, which suggests the inconsistence with the present theoretical conception and research on the brain mechanism. The correlation analysis between long-term memory and working memory and fluid intelligence indicates that episodic memory, semantic memory and autobiographical memory does not have a strong relationship with the other. In the regression analysis, as opposed to long-term memory, working memory has a more significant predictability to fluid intelligence. At last, path analysis is indicated that there is no significant path between verbal long-term memory and working memory and fluid intelligence, however, there is a significant path between digit long-term memory and working memory and fluid intelligence, above all, this research shows that the structural relationships among long-term memory, working memory and fluid intelligence are associated with material and test types.
