In this report, three cases are presented, including consulting about studyingabroad and assistance on the2012Aoji International Overseas Education Fair, interpretation of a proposal for advertising copywriting and on-site interpreting ofSmall-scaled business meeting as major cases. The memorization-related andinterpreting strategies are analyzed here, and appropriate strategies and solutions arealso considered.During the task review, the reportemphasizes the memory strategy at thepreparation phase before interpreting, andthe application of working memory theoryin interpretation. The report describesthe content of targeted memory at thepreparation phase and the extraction strategy while applying in interpreting process; italso lists the source texts and the target for comparative purposes. In the section of the case study, by combining the theory of working memory withthe research results, the author selected some typical cases to make detailed analysis attextual level from three aspects:“the application of schema theory memory method inconsecutive interpreting"“, the application of abstract-memory mode in sightinterpretation", and “the alleviation of application of nested memory in the process ofinterpretation".By the task description and the case study, the following have been concluded:(1)The importance of working memory training for interpreters has been reinforced onceagain and paraphrase is the conscious cognitive effort, while interpretation memory isdeclarative learning and step-by-step targeted training speeds up the process of“decoding”,providing essential guarantee for the translation accuracy and immediacy;(2) Corresponding memory strategies shall be used according to different texts, occasions and modes of interpretation. Abstract-memory method is recommended forconsecutive interpretation with drafts, by which interpreters shall get the general idea, and keep in pace with the idea of the speaker despite any possible changes so as to dealwith improvisation of speaker and the negative effects caused by tension.(3)Long-term memory supports the short-term memory. The nested memory mode couldfacilitate the improvisation of interpreter thoroughly if it is successfully applied to theusual accumulation of targeted background knowledge, and it could serve as a link ifthe short-term memory temporarily fails. Short-term memory is only effective infragments and memorization of general ideas, and therefore the extraction and integration speed of available resources in the brain determine interpreting quality.
