Wang Siren is a famous litterateur in the late Ming Dynasty. In the recent academic circle, researches conducted to Wang are mainly focused on his essays; while studies of his 900 or so poems are of less concern. In order to make a more comprehensive research to Wang, this paper intends to elucidate on his poems in a systematic way. Along with this, Wang's life and theories of essays and poems are briefed.This thesis consists of three parts: In Chapter One, Wang's life and theories of Literary are briefly introduced. It is known that Wang is bright and talented, but he islack of the characteristic of slickness, which makes his official career road quite uneven. Wang's theories of Literary are mainly embodied in the following three aspects: composing"disposition"as poems; going after individuality and against imitation and taking"poetic interest"as the aim.In Chapter Two, contents reflected in Wang's poems are illustrated. They can be largely divided into four types: travel poems taking travels, beautiful landscape as well as places of interest as subjects; poems reflecting current social situations; poems expressing feelings and poems for making friends. Judged from that, it is known that Wang's poetry covers a wide subject, and researches to Wang are of great significance.In Chapter Three, artistic features of Wang's poetry are analyzed, namely,"interest","freshness","sprightliness"and some others full of individualities, and different from traditional poetic creations, all of which make Wang was a great poet in the late Ming Dynasty. In the last sections, reasons for origin of Wang's poetry, which is unknown to most people, are discussed.All in all, by studying Wang and his poetry in this thesis, the author cherishes the hope that people can get to know Wang more comprehensively. Meanwhile, he also hopes to recover the deserved literary position of Wang's poetry.
