In B.C.202, Western Han dynasty was established. Han Emperor Liu Bang issued a series of edicts , which was called the Imperial Edict in May of 5th-year of Liu Bang, to place demobilized servicemen, to liberate slaves and to persuade displaced people back hometown.Chapter 1 Statistical analysis of historical documents Written on the Book of Former Han, it shows that the Imperial Edict in May of 5th-year of Liu Bang, including the first edict and the last edict, between which several edicts to local governmental officials. And an edict on the law of granting field-homestead to demobilized servicemen were issued, but unfortunately all disappeared later.Chapter 2 By the centre of the issuance of May of 5th-year edict, the enforcement of the field-homestead granting system registered by the rank of nobility are studied .Section 1 The content of the Imperial Edict in May of 5th-year of Emperor Liu Bang briefly.Section 2 to 3 The facts of two large migration wave of displaced people to Guan Zhong region, at least 300,000 demobilized servicemen who were distributed land and houses by government shows the real existence of the land-house granting system registered by hierarchy in early Former Han period.Section 4 Academic Review: Han troop took Chu Kingdom's system of hierarchy since its uprising in B.C.209.Section 5 to 7 In the 5th-year of the Han Emperor, Han troops were still taking Chu Kingdom's system of hierarchy. This conclusion is from a textual research of the Imperial Edict, the year of No. 10 to 18 grade in 20-grade system of hierarchy appearance in the book of Former Han, and the producing year of the law of household.Section 8 and 9 Two issues are studied. The first is the meaning of that every person who ranks beyond Qi Dafu had the rights of dependent land-division .The second is why the quantity of land and house granting in the law of household were so high .
