Reading is a basic and important skill in foreign language study. Through reading various kinds of materials written in the target language, learners obtain the information they need and reach the goal of learning the language. In order to understand the reading materials, learners should have sufficient vocabulary knowledge, which provides them with enough comprehensible input needed in reading. This vocabulary knowledge includes two dimensions, breadth and depth and can be obtained through many ways. Dictionary-use is one of them.Dictionaries are a necessity for language learners. They provide a great deal of information on word items, meanings, examples, phrases, collocatives, idioms, grammatical usages and so on. With the help of dictionary-use and the conscious attention on the word information and cultural knowledge provided, learners can enlarge their vocabulary knowledge and comprehensible input for reading comprehension.Therefore, this paper analyzed the relation between vocabulary knowledge and reading, and between reading and the two dimensions of vocabulary knowledge respectively from the quantitative perspective, and investigated the subjects'dictionary conditions and the influence of their dictionary-use strategies on vocabulary knowledge and reading from a qualitative perspective. The data were collected from two vocabulary tests and one questionnaire. According to the data, there was close correlation between vocabulary knowledge and reading, between vocabulary knowledge and its two aspects. Besides, the subjects'dictionary-use conditions were satisfactory, and the dictionary-use strategies had some definite influence on reading and vocabulary knowledge.
