Naturalism literature of Zola shows a unique character and style different from the literature before Naturalism, which might have originated from a number of innovations on its content and written skills. This thesis gives an account of the narrative technique of Zola's works, analyzes the series of narrative features different from the traditional literary based on the theory of narratology. On the one hand, he described the pursuit of objectivity. Firstly he gives up the construction of bizarre plot and displays the scenes of natural and daily life based on the collection of true materials. There are many prominent manifestations of the narrative scenes in Zola's works. Such narrative feature embodies the influence of the idea of the times on the literary performance practices, At the same time, the scenes were filled with the property of dialogue and the carnival spirit, which have walked in the forefront of the times. Secondly, he breaks the ruling of ideology and ideas on the narration, and uses a limited perspective in the scene description, use the observer limited perspective and character limited perspective extensively, which realizes the claim of "non-personal" on narration, and attains the concealment of the main author therefore he avoids the ruling of ideas and moral preaching, thus he opened a multiple, dialogued and equal relationship among writer, narrator, the characters, and readers. On the other hand, there is also strong sensitivity under the objective characteristics of the text. In the collapse of the narrative mode of ruling of the concept, the authors construct the narrative model which mingled the emotional experience with the objective realities. During the description of the scenes using the limited View, they also pay attention to the experience and convey of the emotion; there are still a large number of symbolic narrative in the text. In the description of the scenes, he conveys the impression on the context through the observation and experience of the author; The using of limited View not only fully realizes the narrative of "non-personal", but also offers a best form to convey the emotional experience of the characters vividly; The symbols and images in the text are the best embodiment of the narrative mode which blends the subjective intention and objective signs. The combining of subjective intention and objective signs constitutes "image". In short, the absolute objectivity isn't the pursuit of naturalism narration, nor is the completely subjectivity, what it pursues is an overall style mingled subjectivity with the objectivity thus realizes the theoretical pursuit: "the real of sense".This paper is divided into three chapters to discusses the naturalistic narrative features of Zola's works: Chapter I, narrative scenes; Chapterâ…¡,limited perspective; Chapter III, the sensitivity of the symbolic features of narration. Chapter I and Chapterâ…¡focus on the characteristics of objectivity, Chapter III excavates its subjective characteristics in-depth under the objectivity to reveal its narrative model mingled subjectivity with the objectivity. In the study and analysis of Zola's narrative characteristics, we not only make clear the creative and unique approach of naturalistic literature , to apprehend the nature of narrative style as its representative, but also, the more importantly, we can see the significance of naturalism in the history of literature, which can be defined as connecting link. Zola's naturalistic literature came naturally form the traditional realistic literature and cultivated the modern literature; it is the intermediate of realistic literature and modernistic literature. The literary concept of objective truth and its narrative features embodies its inheritance from the characteristics of the traditional literary; and space description of the scene, the using of the limited perspective and the open of the new type of equal relation among writer, narrator, the characters become the seeds of modern literature. This may be the deep significance of the study of Zola's narrative characteristics.
