A Study On College Students' Sexual Double Standard And Its Relationship With Their Psychosexual Health

Sexual double standard,as a kind of sexual attitude,refers to the gender differences of sexual behavior permission,especially,the stricter standards for women's sexual behavior than those for men.Specifically,the sexual double standard means the permission differences for men and women's different sexual behavior and the critic's differences for men and women's same sexual behavior.The possible stricter standards for men than for woman are called the reversed sexual double standard in this study.In order to explore the characteristics of college students' sexual double standard,the college students' sexual double standard scale is constructed based on the overall review of former researches,the open-ended questionnaire and the interview.After the detecting of the premier scale,the formal sexual double standard scale is formed.After testing the reliability and validity of the scale,it is used as a tool to explore the characteristics of 600 college students,and the effects of gender,birth places and major are analyzed.And also the IAT experiment is taken to invest the implicit sexual double standard and compare the relationship and differences between the overt attitude and implicit attitude.At the end of this study,the possible relationship between the sexual double standard and the psychosexual health is surveyed.The main results of this study are as follow:(1)The sexual double standard scale includes two main aspects:one is the condition or the presupposition of sexual behavior,the other is the sexual experiences.The former one means whether the sexual partners have money-related contact,and which part proposes the sexual desire first;the latter means the amount of the sexual partner at the same time or for a period of time.(2)The sexual double standard scale has good reliability and validity.Those women,who reluctant to propose the condom use during the sexual behavior,have significant higher sexual double standard than women ask on their own..For men,this kind of differences is not significant otherwise.Therefore,the sexual double standard scale can be used as a tool for college students' double standard.(3)In the college sample,the sexual double standard,no sexual double standard and reversed sexual double standard all exist.The scores are significant different for women and men.The differences of different birth places and different major are not significant.(4)In the IAT experiment,the reaction time of the uncombined tasks is significant higher than the combined tasks,which means the implicit sexual double standard does exist.The reaction time differences are significant great for women and men.The results between IAT and sexual double standard scale are significant different.The positive relationship between IAT and overt scale isn't significant.(5)The relationship of sexual double standard and psychosexual health is not significant on the overall scores,but the sexual values and the sexual adaptation are significantly related to the sexual double standard.The sexual values are positively related to the sexual behavior condition and the overall scale;the sexual adaptation is negatively related to the sexual behavior condition and the overall scale.
