Moruo Autobiography,which starts the autobiography fashion among the modern Chinese writers in the 1930s,is a autobiography of modern Chinese literature history. In 1928,Guo Moruo began his creation,and finished it in 1948.In this more than 1.2 million words masterpiece,which includes novels,essays,prose,dramas,and various types of Styles.Also,we can find autobiography,diaries,travelogues,different kinds of memoirs.Totally,this work ended the history of "Oriental without lengthy autobiography." Japanese scholars Maruyama(Japanese version translator of Guo Moruo autobiography)thought that Guo Moruo's autobiography and his historical drama were "two most important pillars" of his works."Guo's work,specially,as a typical one of Chinese intellectuals' thinking histories," "can not be ignored," and "it made contributes to the understanding of Modem Literature,Modem Ideology; providing valuable information too." However,only because this autobiography was overlooked by some important literary history books,such a masterpiece becomes a relatively weak link of China modem autobiography researches and studies on Guo Moruo.Therefore,this paper select Moruo Autobiography as the research object in order to make a deep study on Moruo Autobiography,by the interaction between Guo Moruo himself and social history,analyses how did Guo Momo shaped and identified himself in different periods,explores why did he create Moruo Autobiography,and amended the contents in the 1950s,how did he describe and analyses his self structure. First,Origin:self-identity crisis.1928,Guo Moruo wrote his first autobiography My Childhood(now known as My Childhood).A few years later,he finished many entries of his autobiography.Through the mental study of a particular period,we find Guo Moruo wrote his autobiography is a result of his self-identity crisis-the specific performance of the nation-state crisis,anxiety and physical survival plight,besides affected by the 1930s Autobiography Fashion in China.Autobiography as the best way of self-performance,Guo Moruo's ego was re-established in writing his autobiography, and in a certain extent,his self-identity crisis was mitigated.Second,the narrative:mold self-image.It took Guo Moruo 20 years to write his autobiography.In his autobiography,Guo Moruo's self image keeps constantly changing.Comparing Guo Moruo's different descriptions on the same thing in the different period,which is the main way to make clear this dynamic development of Guo Moruo's ego in this chapter.This part includes two main parts:self and they in the autobiography.Self described as three issues:identity,narrative approach and the self image.They is about Lu Xun's statements which occupy a heavy component in Guo Moruo's autobiography.Third,amendments:social identity.Guo Moruo's autobiography was ended in the 1940s.In 1958,when he was working on the Collected Works of Moruo,Guo Moruo amended the content of the autobiography on his own initiative it included the amendments on ego,them,social.Guo Moruo's amending action is a kind of his self image reshaping.Comparing the former version with the later one,we may see Guo Moruo's different self cognition,construction,self-image,and the interactive complex relationship between individuals and the society.
