A General Introduction Of Contemporary Chinese Prose Poetry During The Past 20 Years

First appeared in the period of the May 4th movement with the modern novel and the new poem in the vernacular, the Chinese prose poem is standing much lower in the history of Chinese modern and contemporary literature. In our country, there are little specialistic treatises on Chinese prose pomes except Wild grass written by Luxun in the teaching materials used by many universities and colleges. The introduction of the Chinese prose poem is often omitted by the editors. However, from all of these, it isn't evident that the prose poems are unimportant in the history of literature. The prose poem, a lonely style, can not be called enough attention in the society. In order to improve the status of prose pomes in Chinese literary circles, and to attract more people, the study of prose pomes is especially important.The history of prose poem in China can be divided into three stages based on its influences in the society: the 1920s, the fifths and sixths in the 20th century, and the period from 1985 to 2005.Combing through the first two stages' articles, we can find the Wild grass as the metaphor of the prose poems. In new China, prose poems with the representatives such as Kelan and Guofeng have appeared to reply the calling of "two hundred policies", whose pure and natural style and the "piccolo" writing style got fierce response from the youth and built up a new type of poem. These works were inadequate to make up the theory of prose proems in initial stage. The lack of theory has led to some bad influences. It's hard to define the style of prose poems, to blur the characters of this style, and to impede the development.Until 1985, Chinese prose poems had developed boomingly. The development of contemporary prose poems has attracted more attention in the twenty years when there emerged some figures from the young to the old enriched the power of prose poems such as Kelan, Guofeng, Zhou yuehan, Haimeng, Liu zaifu, Ligeng, Yu zihan, many publications offered writers and readers platforms to communicate such as The Prose Poem Newspaper, The Prose Poem, The World of Prose Poems, The Annual Selection of Prose Poems and a lot of articles on the line.With the blooming of prose poems, more and more researchers have begun to study it. The first published theory monograph is The World of Prose Poems written by Wang guangming. The articles from Wang fuming, Sun yushi, Zhang yanjia, Xu chengmiao, Jiang dengke and so on open the window to build up the theory of Chinese prose poems. For the lack of theory, the study topic is "what is the prose poem" which is the foundation to promote the development in this period.This essay aims at the twenty-year development of contemporary prose poems in China to definite the style of prose poem, make clear its characters and reveal the twenty-years' achievement by reviewing the representatives in the chapter 3, On the Contemporary Prose Poets, who play decisive role in the development.
