Philosophical Exploration Of The School Of British New Marxism History

In the process of transforming from traditional history to new history, the school of British New Marxism is a history school who affects profoundly in the view of contemporary west history and dividing pattern of history school .It is one history crack force in all kinds of west new history school in the time after Marx. It dominates the direction where contemporary western history flow at with the school of French Yearbook and the school of US Social Sciences. This history school emerged in the international academic circles because their outstanding academic achievement, extremely profound history idea and rich history theory and the practice achievement. It gradually changed suspicious attitude of the English tradition history to speculation, concept and theory structure. It gives enough significance to Marxist theory and method in historical research. It is helpful to rich understanding about Marxism, improve research level and construct socialist harmonious society that probe into its actual conditions, thought origins, theory characteristic and so on. However, the research conditions about this school are not satisfactory in domestic academic circles; most of them concentrate to basic situation introduction of this school or individual history scholar's history activity and the case study.This article elaborates to fundamental questions about the school of British New Marxism History from philosophical angel, in order to cause more scholars to concern this school. In the first part, the article explores the realistic conditions and academic origin of the school represented by Thompson and Hobsbawm; next the article sums up four theoretical special natures from the macroscopic stratification plane, namely: probe into transition of inner structure of new class society ,emphasize conditions of working class, explore total history of social transformation; signify the role of historical subject. In the third part, the article expounds its methods compared with methods used in traditional history, included: the theory method of see from below, and the historical principle method. Finally, the article elaborated its surpassing meaning to study paradigm of traditional history and its guiding meaning to theoretical research of Marxist history briefly.
