Since the 1950 s,the proletariat in the western capitalist world appeared the phenomenon of weakening the sense of class belonging and the characteristics of complexity, which led to the vague tendency of people's understanding of the proletariat.Faced with these situations,Western Marxists,on the basis of drawing lessons from Marxist subjectivity thought, combined with the specific social problems of current capitalist society, put forward many socialist subjectivity thoughts by using the latest methodology of social history.Among them, the most prominent one is the theoretical exploration made by British neo-Marxists in this respect. The main body of the paper consists of three parts. The introduction clarifies the importance and necessity of the research subject from two perspectives of the historical background and the current research situation at home and abroad, and points out that the purpose of this paper is to explore the connotation and evolution of British New Marxist Subjectivity Thought in the context of Western Capitalism, and to further deepen the understanding of the historical status and social functions of contemporary Subjectivity Thought. The first part, based on the analysis of the realistic and theoretical background of New Marxist subjectivity in Britain, points out that the development of Western society and the change of social structure have gradually weakened the class consciousness of the proletariat and weakened the sense of class identity and belonging of the proletariat. In this case,if we want to establish the proletariat's subjectivity,we need to face the new situation. The social subjectivity thought carries on the Re-elaboration and the development. The second part focuses on the basic content and characteristics of the historical evolution of New Marxist subjectivity in Britain.Taking the "cultural turn" in the 1950 s,the "structural turn" in the1970 s and the "pluralistic turn" in the 1980 s as the main clues,it elaborates and analyses the specific connotation of the three stages of New Marxist subjectivity in Britain and grasps the relationship between them.Internalconsistency and external diversity. The third part, with historical materialism as the main guiding theory, summarizes the contemporary theoretical significance of the subjectivity thought of the British New Marxism, clarifies the historical mission of the first-class school on the social subject in the socialist movement, reveals its beneficial supplement to the subjectivity thought of Marxism and its enlightening effect on the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics. It is of great practical significance to enhance the status of the social subject in the socialist construction and better play its role.
