The Study Of The Adverb In YanZiChunQiu

It is of great importance in the research of Chinese language history that several kinds of masterpieces from different historical stages are selected to be worked over at great length. As one of the most important works in pre-Qin Dynasty, Yanzi Chunqiu is a key resource to the research of pre-Qin language. In this paper, thorough investigation and comprehensive descriptions are given concerning the adverbs emerged in the Yanzi Chunqiu.The thesis is composed of four parts. The first part gives a brief introduction of Yanzi and his Yanzi Chunqiu. And in the second part a discussion about the grammatical function of adverbs is given so as to make criteria for the adverbs in Yanzi Chunqiu. By classifying the 146 adverbs into nine kinds, which are stated as degree adverbs, time adverbs, modal adverbs, range adverbs, mood adverbs, conjunctive adverbs, negative adverbs, modest adverbs and frequency adverbs, specific descriptions are made to the use and grammatical meanings of the adverbs. And the statistical frequency of every kind of adverbs used in the works of Yanzi can also be found in the third part. Finally, in the conclusion part, a summary about the distribution and use of the adverbs in Yanzi is given on the basis of the description and analyze of which.
