The Research On Fan Xi Wen's Poetics Of Thought

Fan Xi wen, the famous writer and critic in Song Danasty, completed a monograph of Note and Comments of poetry and poets—Night Words to the Bed in his senior years. His creation was enormously impacted by Yan yu. While learning from the latter and recognizing the then flaws in poetry circle, he put forward his own views on poetics by combining his experience and aesthetic sentiment on poetry creation. He inherited Yan yu's ideas of "ingeniously realizing" and "other gifts or other interests" and brought up the poetics category of "blending of sentiments and scenery" . What is more, he demonstrated artistic conception and other aesthetic features. Night words to the Bed was divided into five volumes, among which commentaries took up a large proportion while textual criticism and notes were limited. Du fu's works were mainly discussed in this monograph, and by analyzing them, the author's poetics' views were carried forward. From volume I to V, poems from Book of songs to Song Dynasty were listed and compared, their particular methods were discussed as well, all of which are considerablely helpful to poetry learners. Imbalance of configuration has existed for a long time in the field of notes and comments on poetry, since most dissertation have focused upon some distinguished works such as Liu Yi notes and comments on poetry, Lang cang notes and comments on poetry, and Sui Han hall notes and comments on poetry, while other medium and small-sized notes and comments have been pitifully neglected. However, Night words to the Bed discusses some trivial materials in this subject, yet it still deserves more attention. This dissertation starting from text study is to explore theoretical knowledge and to orientate this monograph properly. Appling the study views of existentialism and art psychology and the like, the dissertation also interprets the poetics views in comparison.
