Humanity has started the modernization process in the course of Enlightenment.The spiritual idea leading this process is modernity.During the historical process of modernity development,the instrumental reason advanced triumphantly while value reason was cast into shade,which triggered predicament and development crisis of human survival.Now people are perplexed by the "crisis of modernity" as the value reason has been losing.Therefore,study on the value reason seems particularly important to overcome the "crisis of modernity".The thesis is written on the basis of author' s pondering on social problems in modern society.Proceeding from the awareness of problems in value reason introspection,the thesis focuses on four aspects of value reason in four coherent parts.The first part is to define the value reason under the guidance of methodology integrated losically and historically. The second part is to explicate the fact that the value reason has been losing in the process of modernization,that is,the awareness of problems in value reason introspection.The third part is to analyze the causes of the value reason loss in the process of modernization.The fourth part is the author's thinking about the theoretical and practical basis of the reconstruction of value reason.With the stand of the philosophy of Marxism,the author studies the value reason in the process of modernization from the social philosophy angle.The time frame involved in the thesis starts from the beginning of "modernization" or "Enlightenment";the space range involved in it is the "world modernization process".The theoretical end result of this thesis is the practical materialism as well as the theoretical vision created by it.
