The Dual Dilemma Of Modernity

Undoubtedly,in modern society,the issue of modernity is closely related to the survival and development of human beings.Since the 20th century,both the development of China and the development of the world can be concluded as the issue of modernity.This paper focuses on the analysis of the two dimensions of the predicament of modernity,aiming to find out a new direction to solve the crisis and explore a new way to be feasible.This paper aims at studying the predicament of modernity systematically,tracing the etymology of modernity,investigating its characteristics,and clarifying the differences between modernization,modernism and modernity.Through the research,it is found that modernity is a complicated concept,covering the economic,political,cultural and social aspects of human life.Modernity is generated in the capitalist society.Relying on the large-scale industrial production,it realizes the transformation of production mode,and thus drives the transformation of people's lifestyle and life concept.Subjectively,the rationality and subjectivity advocated by the enlightenment movement,while promoting social progress,concealed internal contradictions and crises,paradoxes of rationality,centralism of subjectivity,the development of human unipolarity and loss of meaning,which led to the existence of contradictions and crises in modernity.Objectively,the development of modernity lies on the contradiction between the finiteness of natural resources and the infinity of social development,as well as the control of materialized relations to social relations.In the process of development,countries cannot abandon modernity,so they must find a way to solve the crisis.From the subjective and objective two dimensions to study the dilemma of modernity,divided into thought and culture,including the philosophical values of modernity dilemma and the economic and political system of modernity dilemma,and analyzed the relationship between the subjective and objective two dimensions,and the logic of capital related to the market economy.Starting from the relationship between Marx and modernity,this paper holds Marx's attitude towards modernity.He not only pursues modern values(such as freedom and equality),but also deeply understands the predicament of modernity.Therefore,he criticizes metaphysics andPolitical Economy.In general,Marx affirms the benefits of modernity and reviles the negative consequences of modernity.His ultimate goal is to get rid of alienation and rebuild modernity.On the basis of the domestic and foreign research and experience,in order to get out of the new China's modernity development mode,try to get rid of the negative influence,to recognize the new task of China,to recognize the development of the society must cultivate rational spirit,the value of social choice and orientation lies in the people's subjectivity,and advocacy to improve the utilization of natural resources,change the mode of production,achieve the sublation of alienation,promote people's all-round development.The path of socialist modernization with Chinese characteristics is not only a supplement to western modernity,but also a wealth of marxism.In order to reinterpret Marx's critique of modernity in das kapital,an objective perspective is established.
