Video installation art, as a major art form in new media, allows the viewers to sense and experience the expression of the work itself with its distinguished artistic concept, video experiment, installation space and on-the-scene interaction, which is regarded as the unique cultural advantage of this art form. A series of inspiring new media art activities enable more and more people to pay attention to this newly emerged art. Affected by conceptual art, performance art, experimental video technology, video installation art has become unique in form and language. It is now thought of as a vital part in contemporary important art exhibitions. Numbers of artists are exploring in this territory with so many notable works born. The variety of its art forms results in its complexity, which is known by the artists and the viewers. In a special way it shows its creative process and content in any exhibition scene. Video installation art in China had experienced the process of copying and studying contemporary Western video art before it succeeded exploring a style with the characteristics of contemporary Chinese art background and content. At present, more and more Chinese video artists become the representatives of contemporary Chinese art after they are known worldwide.
