This article has reviewed Yi Bai-sha's thoughts from the aspect of his view of culture.In the atmosphere of anti-traditional culture of the modern Chinese history, the theory of Mozi became a tool to criticize the Confucianism and propagate the Western culture.Following the atmosphere,Yi Bai-sha proposed the view of respecting the theory of Mozi and criticizing the Confucianism.Yi held the equlity of Mo scholar in esteem, sticked to the thoughts of deciding his own destiny by himself,and made the equlity of Mo scholar and Western liberty,democracy,equlity into a entirety.Thus Yi provided cultural resources for enlightment.YiBai-sha is not only a successor of our national splendid culture,but also is a pioneer of advocating to learn Western progressive culture. Yi considered that our traditional culture should be inherited critically. Yi advocated absorbing the advantages of Chinese and Western culture,ie,he opposed cultural conservatism and wholesale Western.Yi's view of culture had times distinctive trait,ie stressing academic competition freely according to evolutionism,combining academic research and politic struggle, suspecting and criticizing old and decayed concept or academy with the strong spirit of opposing feudalism,promoting the enlightment at that time. It should be confirmed fully Yi's strong politic responsibility,great social care consciousness and valuable exploring spirit.
