On Jian-Ming He's Reportage Writing

Jian-Ming He was one of the most powerful contemporary reportage writers, his works have a great influence in chinese literature field. However, as the theoretical research on reportage is relatively backward, the concern for his works paid by acdemic circle remains far from enough. Based on a thorough anylsis on Jian-Ming He's reportage compositions, this essay makes a comprehensive discussion on his creating characteristics and theoretical significance. Besides the introduction and postscript, this paper includes four parts.The introduction part briefly outlined the status and contribution of Jian-Ming He in the contemporary literary circle and explains the value of this paper.Chapter one, "The Inherent Unity of Main Theme and Diversity", is divided into three sections. Section I classified Jian-Ming He's creation via different themes and discussis his efforts to advocate the spiritual essence of the time, starting by focusing on cultural education and intellectuals; Section II mainly exhibits various images of the heroes in his compositions; Section III expresses the lofty and beauty reflected in the diversified creation styles and his personal creation traits.Chapter II, "The Organic Integration of Exstolment and Criticism", consists of two sections. Section I explains the theme of extolling the time implied in his works, in which Jian-Ming He praises the deeds of heroes of all kinds; Section II mainly discusses the sense of criticisim in his works as well as the organic integration of two different viewpoints of exstolment and criticism.Chapter III, "The Harmonious Unity of Typical Details and Diverse Forms",talks about Jian-Ming He's efforts in exploiting the artistic creation skills. It contaions two sections. Section I takes his works The National Action and The Report on College Entrance Examination in China as examples to analyze the selection and description of typical details; Through analyzing the macro-synthesis, epic style and the images of the protagonists shown in his works, section II discribs Jian-Ming He's various research on artistic styles.Chapter IV, "The Interoperability of The Mainstream Ideology and The Civil Standpoint", mainly discusses the standpoints of writer's literary discourses. Taking two books as examples, Weeping Is Gold and Fundamental Interests, Section I analyzes the feature of Jian-Ming He's joining "advertizing" and "skills" together in his works. Section II explains how Jian-Ming He keeps the unity of the "mainstream ideology" and the "civil standpoints"."The Postscript" mainly criticises the vulgarization, impetuousness as well as impreciseness reflected in a small number of Jian-Ming He's works and analyzes the limitations and inadequacies in his composition creation.
