A Study On The Theme Of He Jianming’s Reportage

With the development of Chinese reportage,from the initial formation in the 1930 s,to the Grand View in the 1980 s,to the all-round development in the 1990 s and the new century,many works with profound influence and writers with far-reaching influence have emerged.He Jianming is one of the most powerful reportage writers in Contemporary Chinese literary world.This paper takes He Jianming’s Reportage as the research object,and through close reading of the text,it summarizes the three themes of He Jianming’s reportage.This paper discusses the contribution and limitation of He Jianming’s Reportage in theme revealing from positive and negative aspects.The full text is divided into four chapters: the first chapter is the comprehensive witness of the growth of the Republic.One of the major characteristics of He Jianming’s works is to select themes from the perspective of the state,record China’s reform and development,reproduce the national theme through major national projects,and pay attention to the major issues of national construction.This chapter divides He Jianming’s works on national theme into three categories,namely,focusing on national construction,establishing China’s image and showing China’s development.This paper points out the uniqueness of He Jianming’s wonderful Chinese story from the first perspective of reportage,which shows China’s great power demeanor,feelings and responsibilities.The second chapter is the love songs of heroes and models of the times.He Jianming’s creation of the theme of the times is mainly reflected in three aspects: praising the model of the times,carrying forward the spirit of the times and praising his loyalty to the party.His reportage works praise many impressive models that embody the mainstream discourse of the times.As a reportage writer,he connects his artistic ideal with the people and grasps the spirit of the times in his creation.This chapter will discuss the characteristics and significance of He Jianming’s era theme from these three aspects.His creation has greatly enriched the historical connotation of contemporary reportage.The third chapter focuses on the social and livelihood issues.He Jianming’s works,especially his early works,reveal many serious social problems,such as "China’s national college entrance examination".In addition,there are also strong appeals for ecological protection.In terms of people’s livelihood,he paid attention to the living conditions of the people at the bottom,went deep into the people at the bottom,and called for justice for them,showing his sense of responsibility and humanitarian spirit in his creation.The fourth chapter discusses the contribution and limitation of He Jianming’s Reportage in revealing the theme.Taking a comprehensive view of He Jianming’s reportage,we can see that he is good at integrating politics and people’s livelihood,especially in the expression of national strategy and national feelings.At the same time,it also shows that the country pays more attention than the people’s livelihood,which is reflected in the "Pan politicized" literary narrative and the lack of reflective and critical spirit in creation.The conclusion mainly summarizes the characteristics of He Jianming’s Reportage in revealing the theme and the enlightenment it brings us.
