There is an old saying that China is a"State of Nice Manners". Its etiquette system and customs are rich in content, and have a long history and far-reaching impact. Etiquette culture has been regarded as a difficult aspect in historical research as its complexity and voluminous content. How to evaluate traditional etiquette objectively, and how to select its essence abandon its dross are one of the most important subject in history, sociology and folklore research. Etiquette culture was established and stereotyped in Han dynasty. This paper was written to find the relationship and interaction between etiquette culture and family, society in Han dynasty, so as to make a profound understanding about etiquette culture.This thesis is divided into four parts. The first part is preface which defined the relevant concept of etiquette, the foundation and development of it in Pre-Qin and QinHan dynasties etc. The second part named family etiquette in Han dynasty, and it reveals the relationship between etiquette and filiations, brothers and spouses. The third part is about social etiquette in Han dynasty. It reflects how the etiquette affected the contacts between different peoples, such as teachers and students, officials and subordinates, the elder and the young, friends etc. The relationship between teachers and students, officials and subordinates is essentially a political dependency relations. Respecting the elder and loving the young are not only advocated by the government, but also became a kind of social customs. The making friends etiquette in Han Dynasty includes honesty, comity, neglecting noble and humble and helping each other and so on. A good study of the making friends etiquette in Han Dynasty can benefit interpersonal harmonious relationship in modern society. The fourth part focuses on the reflection of etiquette cultural heritage, and sums up four characteristics of it. Today, the emerging uncivilized phenomenon is raising concerns that some of the country's ethical culture heritage must be paid more attention. The research on the etiquette culture in Han dynasty could fully exploits China's traditional etiquette's outstanding cultural spiritual and cultural connotations, and provides a theoretical basis for the establishment of social modern etiquette, and also helps to improve interpersonal and social harmony in modern society.
