| Color as an element which objectively exists in ancient and modern paintings at home and abroad, its composition is the basic framework to support all the paintings. Color is the most active element in the visual communication, and its identification, imagination symbolism and expression will impact the ultimate effect of the frescos works directly.Color composition is a verbal factor in works of art, is the result by'artists' aesthetic activities and aesthetic creation. Similarly, color composition is an indispensable element of frescos; as the visual element of frescos, color composition is the expression of the most specific creation intention. Whether the color composition is applied appropriately or not, will inevitably impact the conception expression of the frescos. Therefore, as an important factor on studying and probing into the aesthetic object of frescos, color composition has become one of the concerns by the people who are involved in the aesthetic activities to frescos.Since the 1990s, frescos have been given the new wording of "environment art" or "public art". The relationship between frescos and the environment has been enhanced to a more important height, which has formed a consciousness to do the fresco design according to the need of the architectures surroundings. As the expression way of frescos, color composition is in a closest relationship with the surroundings. Furthermore, the characteristic expression of frescos is also from the satisfaction to the need of architectures surroundings.Through the study on the definition, spiritual characteristic of color composition and also its application research in frescos, this article is intended to find the internal relation between modern frescos and color composition. It analyses the application of color composition in some magnum opus of modern fresco in China, tries to find the form and internal spirit correspondence between modern frescos and color composition, and explain the value as well.
