Adjective-noun collocation plays an important role in language study and research. Essentially, the conditions of adjective-noun collocation are quite complicated, and are determined and confined by many factors. Therefore, in this research 121 double syllable adjectives were chosen from"The Program of instruction of Higher Specialized Foreign student Chinese Language major Glossary".According to the classification standards proposed by Zhao Chunli, we have classified these adjectives into five sub-classes: subjective, eventual, objective, spatial & temporal, and appraisal, and we also classified the nouns into five sub-classes, subject, event, object, space & time, and logic. Regulations to constraints between adjectives and nouns are explored in detail among subjective-subject (emotion, attitude, intelligence, personality, will), eventual-event (depth, strength, difficulty, urgency, range), objective-object (temperature, humidity, value, price, appearance), and spatial & temporal (length, space, environment).Through detailed research on concrete language materials, we have been able to draw a range of conclusions. As a result of this research, not only do we know the common term lesser-used types, but we also have been able to understand the features of matching ability, the matching frequency between each adjective and noun. Though limitations inevitably exist in our study, it bears some linguistic significance, as well as some practical significance. For example, it can provide positive meaning to the acquisition of adjective-noun collocation. It can help language learners better comprehend, apply and acquire adjective-noun collocation, therefore, shortening studying times and enhancing studying efficiency.
