This thesis circulated the tales written by Perrault from France and Green from Germany, which are read by the most people, as the sample of traditional fairy tales, to study the rewrite from the feminist writer Angela Carter to them. The rewrite by her dose not only subvert the image of women and the gender relations in fairy tales, but also explore the establishment of gender relations in the real world through the virtual world of fairy tales. Although the balance has not achieved yet, but the feminists have never stopped their explorations. Although the fairy-tale world is an illusion, but it may also reflect the reality and affect reality, feminists will continue rewriting fairy tales to help exploring the relationships between the sexes.This thesis is divided into three parts:The first part introduces the background of the traditional fairy tales and the rewritten fairy tales from contemporary. First is a brief introduction to the history of the development of traditional fairy tales, and then are the affected to women on the real world.The second part is the main part of the thesis. This part mainly introduces the contemporary feminist rewrite of the traditional fairy tales, and chooses the British writer Angela Carter represented. Firstly introduce the background of the rewritten fairy tales. As the development of feminize, feminists challenge the society by theory and literary creations. De Simone Beauvoir created her famous book《The Second Sex》,pointed out that women are created by men, and one of the ways is through the affected of the traditional fairy tales.She changed not only the image of women in the traditional fairy tales, which are dependent on men and waiting for the rescue from men, but also the happing ending which the traditional fairy tales have in common. She portrayed a number of new women image, who are independent,self-image.And then analysis the rewrite to the traditional fairy tale by Angela Carter. The writer exaggerated a ghastly atmosphere, and placed the stories under the broader context of a modern society, to traditional forms with the modern sense of uniformity. The writer dared to break the sex area in traditional fairy tales, giving it feminist consciousness. She also broke the traditional model between the men and women,explored the female discourse in the affirmative and hegemony and built modern women image.The third part introduces the artistic value of the rewritten to the fairy tales by Angela Carter. Women writers rewrite traditional fairy tales to explore how to deal with the relations between the sexes in the contemporary society. This reflects the huge influence of the traditional fairy tales, and also shows that contemporary society has not found the best way to balance the relations between the sexes. So they have to explore it in a fantasy world of literature, and try to give the best answer. Overturn the male authority is the inevitable of social development. But after that, to rebuild a new authority, or to achieve equality; to keep logos centre, or to main a harmonious relationship, and how to make it a reality, the discussion is still keeping.
