| Cao Zhi hasn't any monograph on aesthetics, he has amount of works and have played a very important role in Chinese literary history. This essay will based on Cao Zhi's works to find his aesthetic intention.This essay consist of six chapters. The first chapter will mainly about the backgrounds of Cao Zhi's time, includs the situation of the society, and the culture, and more over, the most important idea at that time—the awakening of literature. The second chapter will mainly about Cao Zhi's life, and his character, and his works. His rich experienced rough life creats his complicated character, and causes the theme of his works varies, and his works shows different aesthetic style in different time. And the third chapter will mainly discuss the ethereal beauty of Cao Zhi's words which has been showed in his subjects and his train of thought, and we think the ethereal beauty of his works is the nature of his poetic temperament. The fourth chapter will mainly discuss the energetic beauty of Cao Zhi's works which has been showed in his energetic words and real fibel works. The fifth chapter will mainly discuss the pathos beauty of Cao Zhi's works which has been showed by his discription of pathos roles and his strong feeling on life. The sixth chapter will mainly discuss the rhetoric beauty in four aspects: words, sentences, phonology and structure. In the end of this essay we will discuss Cao Zhi's contribution to Chinese classice esthetic.
