Study On Commemoration Of The 1911 Revolution (1912-1949)

Commemoration of the 1911 Revolution is a history and culture phenomenon lasting almost one century. Beiyang Government and KMT Government successively established the system of commemoration of the 1911 Revolution, built commemorative construction facilities, set up commemorative institutes and groups, and celebrated commemoration day in cities periodically. Commemoration of the 1911 Revolution was politics activity which was dominated to put in practice by the government, and which the citizens participated in widely. It is shown by the activities of the Nation Day. The meaning of commemoration of the 1911 Revolution was weakened deliberately in the period of the Beiyang Government. On the contrary, it was strengthened in the period of the KMT Government, with the denotation about Dr. Sun Yat-sen as mark in the commemoration. In the commemoration of the 1911 Revolution, people not only recalled the past, turned over to think the lessons from the history, but also carried through their political operation naturally to make the commemoration become the stage where different political powers showed their opinions and conflicts between each other.
