Can Xue, who writes in her own way, is one of the most extraordinary and characteristic contemporary writers in china. Her works was highly appreciated aboard. I think the reason of this is her active absorption of foreign factors. The oration in Can Xue's stories can remind you of the automatically compostion and freely association in modernistic novels. The faintness of the identity and the personality of her character is also the typical characteristics in modernistic novels. The ugly she always described can find source in modernistic novels, and so on. The characteristics in Can Xue's works has so much connection with foreign literature. The thesis starts with the foreign factors in Can Xue's works using the method of influence research to analyse how foreign factors influenced her works and then prove it by literature. From the analyse we can see the imitation and original creation in her works better and can get the explanation why her works is so popular abroad, then people will understand that Can Xue plays an important role in communication between foreign literature and Chinese literature. Of course, we should notice the disadvantages in Canxue's works so that other writers will not make the same mistake again. There are three chapters in this thesis to analyse how Dante, Kafka, Borges influence Can Xue's works. The first chapter analyses how Dante influences Canxue, chiefly on how The Divine Comedy influences her. Can Xue gives birth to her own concept of pure literature and reflects the soul of human beings when interpreting The Divine Comedy. She borrows the mold of The Divine Comedy: traveling around the mysterious world at night. The second chapter analyses how Kafka influences Can Xue, both in the concept of writing and the method of writing. In the concept of writing both Can Xue and Kafka think people are distant towards each other. In the method of writing Can Xue absorbs the barpque factor of Kafka. The third chapter analyses how Borges influence Can Xue, chiefly refering to the influence of oration. In this thesis I will discuss it as follows: the imitation of dreams, fancy and Parody. This thesis also analyses the creation of Can Xue in the last section of each chapter, the different heaven, the more oppositional relationship between people, the more Parody, the faintness of the reality and fancy, and the more about the society are all the differences. After seeing the imitation and creation of Can Xue, we can explain why she is highly appraised aboard. Meanwhile we can give a little suggestion of how to absorb foreign factors better to contemporary writers.
