In the clamorous contemporary literary world, Lirui is one of writers with rational consciousness and strong tragic consciousness who stick to writing by thinking.In his writings, sticking to safeguarding the individual life consciousness and assuming the torments of constant misery of life,he wrote the tragedies of life.From the starting point of corresponding to content, he sought freshness and change constantly.In all his works since"Thick Land", we discovered that he created a tragedy world in which form correspond to content assuming the infinite varieties and complexities of torments of life,for there is a tragic consciousness in his mind. According to the constancy and change of form and content in his works and his tragic consciousness ,and by multi-direction and multi-level analyses and explanations, this thesis is supposed to discuss the values and significance of his novels and propositions in the history of Chinese contemporary literature. This thesis includes several parts below:Preface. This part outlines the comprehensive introduction of Lirui and research situations of his literature creation, and explains the innovative points and literature values of this thesis.Chapter one, Writing Tragedy—Assuming the constant misery of life.This part analyzes the tragic existent situations in his novels by three levels:firstly, torments of food and sex; secondly,fender and solitude of Life;thirdly, death. Chapter Two, Seeking"Change"in Writing Style—Assuming complexity and Variety of Life More Freely.This chapter includes two sections:Section One, Diversity of Narrative Patterns;Section Two, Bold Innovation in Narrative Language: Jumping From the island of written Language to the sea of Oral language.Chapter Three, Tragic Consciousness of Lirui. This part includes three parts: Section One, Personal Root of the forming of Tragic Consciousness; Section Two, Safeguard of Individual life Consciousness; Section Three, Awareness of Rationality.Conclusions: Lirui encountered difficulties in his literature creations which are also encountered by other writers. He embodied anxiety in his literature creations which is also embodied in many Chinese contemporary writers'works, but he did not deny, he strived to assume the complexities and richness by reflections on"Cultural Revolution"and his devotion to writing tragedies of life. His practice not only provides explaining space for reflecting the tragic situations of human beings, but also has perpetual significance.
