On The Buddhist And Zen Factors Which Promote The Flourishing Of Tang-Song Erotic Ci

Erotic Ci was an important literature style in Tang and Song Dynasties. Its development and flourish was effected by all kinds of factors. At the same time, Buddhism also obtained great development,had widely influenced on every field of the society.It also promoted the flourish of erotic Ci. In this paper,I will investigate the Buddhism causes wich impeled the flourish of Erotic Ci. From a cultural perspective, The Eroti description in buddhist scriptures introduced erotic composition for our country culture.In the process of Buddhism's localization and secularization in china,The Buddhism sprong up fleshliness ethos. Even though the monks who had high accomplishments in buddhism's basic doctrine also paid attention to women's beauty and lust,and sat in deep meditation through them. Buddhism's paying attetion to women's beauty and lust also provided the suitable cultural for Erotic Ci. Most of the Erotic Ci's authors were intellectuals who had grown in the background of confucianism. The confucian demand them to pursuit progress in politics and morality,but did not agree them to have their own desires and emotion.Meanwhile, Buddhism advocated to sit in deep meditation by mundane desires and games. This methods provided them the spiritual support in the writing of Erotic Ci. The influence from Buddhism to Erotic Ci also reflected on the text. The detailed performances were:the method of truthfully observing and the viewpoint that women were lecherous in Buddhist were scriptures irradiatived for the characterization of female images in Erotic Ci;there were massive Buddhism words and images appearing in Erotic Ci;the life experience that pastoral complex between man and woman conveied demonstrated the proposition that human life were bitter and hollow in the Buddhism's Doctrine. Moreover, Monks'activities that interpretated,propagated and created Erotic Ci directly promoted it to be flourishing. Finally, this paper will take Huang Tingjian for a case, from two aspects of motivation and practice discusses that the Buddhist Thought how to effect his creation of Erotic Ci.
