As a kind of classic poetry, Erotic Poem breaks the situation in which Confucian scholars regard traditional poetry focusing on expressing poets' ambition as the main stream in ancient Chinese poetic history. It opens a brand-new art for ancient Chinese literature world and has great impact on later literature. This paper takes the example of the prosperity of Erotic Poem, analyses the form of this phenomenon and the change of poets'views. The paper is divided into 6 parts including Prelude, the beginning and development of Erotic Poem, the reason of its prosperity and the change of poets'views in the late Tang dynasty, its influence and conclusion.The prelude talks about the position of in Chinese literature, its development, the study of home and abroad, and the significance of the research toward it.Part One aims at some simple description of the origin and development of Erotic Poem. The Book of Songs and The Songs of Chu, the beginning of ancient Chinese literature have included some description of romance. The Court-style poems in Qi and Liang Dynasties symbolize the first blossom of Romantic poetry. In early Tang Dynasty, the poems are still with the characters of the Six Dynasties, so are they in the later. It doesn't thrive until the middle Tang dynasty and becomes prosperous in the late Tang dynasty.Part Two focus on the prosperity of Erotic Poem. Firstly, this part states its thrive in late Tang mainly from the new direction of its development, much more creations and some Erotic Poem albums appearing. This part analyses the reasons why it becomes popular from the aspects of politics, religion and social customs and so forth.Based on the last chapter, Part Three continues to analyze the prosperity of Erotic Poem from the shift of poetic views. This part is divided into two segments including the change of the attitude towards the poetic views in Qi and Liang and the prosperity of Erotic Poem.Part Four discusses about the development and the shift of poetic views, and the influences of Erotic Poem.The last part is Conclusion. The researchers on poetry in Tang dynasty should probe much more into the field of Romantic poetry.
