By taking some measures, it surmounted all kinds of difficulties to remain neutral in spite of being surrounded by the Axis. As a neutral state, Switzerland exproproated a lot of refugees and healed the wounded and rescue the dying by the International Committee of Red Cross which formed by Swiss. This thesis is divided into five parts which are as following:Introduction is mainly about the reason and significance of writing this thesis and the present situation of study of Switzerland nowadays .The first chapter is mainly about the history of policy of neutrality of Switzerland. Neutrality had existed when Switzerland was founded. Switzerland had had to chang the way of external expansion to administer its own country since the faliure of Maliniang campain in 1515. Permanent neutrality of Switzerland finally was admited by Vienna Conference.The second chapter is maily about the measures that Switzerland had adopted to remain neutral during the Second World War. It includes several parts as followings: The unshakable determination to remain neutral; precautions to strengthen its military forces ; precautions to improve economic system during the Second World War; flexible diplomatic policy.The third chapter analyzes the function of Swiss neutrality during the World War II. It can be expounded from the following aspects : the application of the right of asylum; the acception of the fleeing army who have invaded its county; the action of keeping peace; Switzerland assumed the mandate of a protective state for many countries; and the activities of the international Red Cross. The fourth chapter summarizes that how neutral states remain neutral successfully during the war , by comparing Switzerland with other neutral states from different angles.The last part ends by the evaluation of Swiss neutrality is successful during the World War II. And it also points out that Switzerland played an active role in ending the war early and reducing the pain of the war.
