The Application And Teaching Practice Of Chinese Calligraphy In Graphic Form

From the modern art development perspective, interaction, effect and syncretization between different art genres have become a certain trend, and some new theory, method and perspective has brought new energy to different genres which are closed respectively, so an important issue is to find the common art principles including different cultures and subjects. Chinese calligraphy, as the precious traditional culture, is a great creation of Chinese culture to the world. Although graphic form is not a complete design form, it is the basis of design. Graphic form may become a complete design form once it own aim and function, which would instruct the design creation on the other hand. In the paper a series of comparison and analysis between Chinese calligraphy and graphic form were done in order to find their common in pattern and structure, which was applied in the graphic form teaching. From 9.2005 to 12.2006, 5 classes carried out teaching practice on graphic designing specialty, which was done according the following principles: strengthening the aim and method cognition, advancing the teaching practice to a new height through newly textbook and teaching methods and evaluating the result of the student in the atmosphere of cooperation and competition. The teaching practice let student understood some elements and principles applied in the graphic design, knew that Chinese calligraphy was the pride of national culture and the design would have long life through the combination with calligraphy. We have recognized that Chinese calligraphy has many common aspects with graphic design in content, form and spirit, and can bring abundant resource, precious material and some helpful instruction, which is also a certain developing trend of Chinese graphic design and graphic form teaching.
