A Preliminary Study Of The Lineages Of Southern Guangxi Dialects And Their Langeage Attitudes

In recent years, great attention and importance has been attached to Southern Guangxi dialects by experts and scholars from home and abroad, especially those in Guangxi Autonomous Region. With the present researches on the dialects as well as the achievements having been done, much more is about the phonetics of Southern Guangxi dialects. However, quite a few have been made on establishment of dialect lineages, in particular, trace into family migration and case study for deeper exploration.This paper is to focus on establishment of Southern Guangxi dialect lineages by tracing the migration of those families who speak Southern Guangxi dialects. Take for example Lei Family in Heng county and Huang Family in Tiandong county who consider themselves immigrants from outside Guangxi and have ever migrated inside this region, the author explores and analyzes their migration history. Thereafter, the author takes further investigation into the establishment and migration trace of other dialect lineages in Southern Guangxi. This paper mainly studies lineage migration,folk-customs and language attitude and the like.
