"The Era of Good Feeling" was a unique stage in American history. This period lasted for the whole eight years of James Monroe's Presidency, from 1817 to 1825. During this period, there was no rival faction within the party and no obvious political polemics in the United States. The United States has stability and political harmony in socio-economic. A large number of problems which since The War of Independence had been troubling the American people were less serious. The mutual distrust between the large state and the small state had been greatly reduced. The fear of war from the Europe had been safely isolated by Atlantic. In a word, this era was present a peaceful, prosperous and progressive future. This era was the stage which the America founding fathers dreamed, and was a unique period of American history.At the same time, the era was an important turning point in the American history. It was not only related to the consolidation and development of the young Republic Country, but also decided the direction of political ideological development. Before the era, the United States was in the Jefferson democratic period. After the era, the United States changed to the Jackson democratic period. This change also meant that the United States had changed in political ideology. Before The Era of Good Feelings, it was thought that the government, managing least was the best government. After the era, it was believed the strong government which could safeguard the interests of the vulnerable groups was the best government.The Era of Good Feelings in the United States history occupied an important position and played an important role. It should be oriented on the basis of the situation of the world and development of USA in the early 19th century. We could not under-evaluate or over-evaluate the position of this age. Based on the above facts and studies, referring to the previous research, and the materials at hand, combining with the theory of politics, I try to interpret and explain the "era of good feelings".The paper is divided into three major parts, namely introduction, the main text and conclusion.The introduction part: First, I'll introduce the background of "The Era of Good Feelings", and define its scope time. Next, I'll review and summarize the previous research results on the topic, and estate the value of research and the insufficiency. Finally, I'll enlarge the significance, method and the basic mentality of this research, so that we bring forward the basic questions that we need to solve.The first chapter is about the analysis of this historical background and social causes of this era. First, I'll study the economic and social situation when the era generated. Next, I'll analysis the political background of the era. Finally, I'll study the contributions which Monroe President made in this era.The second chapter is about the analysis of characteristics of the era. First, I'll study the characteristics of the one-party political system of the era. Next, I'll study the socio-economic conditions during this era. Finally, I inspect the obvious features of the foreign policy during this eraThe third chapter is about the causes of the ending. First, I'll study the impact of the regional conflict to the ending of the era. Next, I'll study the impact of the controversy and dispute on the slavery issue to the ending of the era. Then, I'll study the impact of recovery and intensity of rival faction with the party to the one-party system. Finally, I'll analyze how John Quincy Adams President accelerates the ending of the era.The conclusion part makes a summary to this essay and generalizes the main points. I note that this era has an important position and historical impact in American history.
