Tang Ying And His Opera Scripts

Among the opera writers during Qing-dynasty,many of them keep their works until now.As one of the representantive opera writers in the middle period of Qing-dynasty,Tang Ying has been neglected in the past years.In fact,his status in the history of Chinese traditional opera should be taken seriously,but it does not mean his work is worthless.Though the impact of Tang Ying's work is smaller than opera workers such as Jiang Shiquan at the same period of Qing-dynasty,the significance of them is equal.To study the opera written by Tang ying can answer the question about the tendency of operas at that time,also tell us the deep reason.This paper attempts to outline Tang Ying's life as far as possible.Except introduce Tang Ying's achievements on poetry and Chinese,the main work of the paper is to study Tang Ying's opera active,analysis the characteristic on thought and art,consideration the competitior between Kun-opera and local operas at the same time.Though Tang Ying is not a very famous opera writer, but his works show us the normal condition in Qing-dynasty,which can tell us the overall tendency of operas at that time.Generally,Tang Ying did his work from the 1st(1736 A.D.)to the 19th(1754 A.D)year of QianLong,Qing-dynasty,which was the preparation time of the competition between Kun-opera and local operas.To study the opera writers and their works can help us know more about the competition.To review TANG Ying's achievements on Chinese opera,I think the significance of his exploration of the flowing together of Kun-opera and local operas should be affirmed.Although the exploration is not conscious,even we can't call it reform,his work is forward thinking.Tang Ying feels the challenge to Kun-opera perceptively.Before the preparation time of the competition between Kun-opera and local operas,his works had already moved towards to flowing together.Also,Tang Ying's works is the very valuable materials about the competition between Kun-opera and local operas.The result about the competition between Kun-opera and local operas is that local opera won at last.Although Kun-opera keep its own room,she lost her royalty.When we see the competition we also see the flowing,as long as we study it,maybe it can enlighten us on the development of Chinese traditional opera today.
