A Study On The Images Of Market Palce Females In Mid-Tang Literature

The main significance of literature is to reappear the physical and mental world of human beings. In the mid-Tang dynasty, there are many works, which is focused on the women living in marketplace. From the images and the lives of those women , we can not only see the inner world of the literati, but also the reality of the special period. It reflects the mental changes of the literati due to the historical and political changes. Their pursuit of life style and literature writing has changed a lot, which hints a new fashionable creation is coming. This article is based on the images of those women appearing in the works of Mid-Tang dynasty. Through the specific analysis of those works, we discuss the creation style and inspiration of literati of that period.This article is composed of five parts. The first part is introduction, which tells the purpose and the significance of the article; The second part introduces the social and cultural background of the images of those women; The third part stresses on the images of the women living in marketplace, which appear in Mid-Tang poems, such as Pi Pa girl, Yang yuhuan and so on; The fourth part mainly discuss Mid-Tang legends, such as "Li WA legend","Huo Xiaoyu legend","Ying ying legend" and so on; The fifth part introduces a very interesting phenomenon, which is the co-existence of poems and legends in Mid-Tang dynasty. What is more, the reason of this phenomenon is further discussed; The last part focuses on the influence of those images of the women to the society as well as to the literature in the following times.
